DIT Events held in external venues
The School or department organizing the event must obtain confirmation that the venue has adequate public liability cover.
Detailed information must be submitted in writing to the Office of the Institute Secretary a minimum of 15 working days prior to the activity/event taking place for the necessary confirmation of insurance.
Contracts need to be reviewed in the context of the insurance clause as some contracts include a “hold harmless” which means the Institute is responsible for any incident/accident whether through its own negligence or not. The Institute’s insurers will never cover an activity or event which has a contract containing a “hold harmless” clause.
A copy of the Risk Assessment form completed and singed off by DIT is also to be sent to the Office of the Institute secretary.
In general specific indemnity will be requested by event site. (e.g. Helix, Temple Bar Trust, Vicar Street, Button Factory). Please contact email@example.com to obtain an indemnity letter.
DIT Events held in DIT premises
In the case of events held in DIT locations and attended by members of the public, the DIT public liability policy would operate in respect of DIT’s legal liability. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and provide time date, location, and a description of the event, and a copy of the approved Risk Assessment Form.
