Health & Safety Training
The Staff Development Department works closely with the DIT Health & Safety Office in delivering Health & Safety Training to DIT Staff.
Under Health & Safety Legislation, some training is mandatory for all staff. In recognition of its statutory obligations, DIT has adopted a Health & Safety Training Policy. The Policy outlines the legal obligations of have to avail of training and provides details of the mandatory training. The full policy is available on the link below:
Online Health & Safety Training:
Online Emergency Response Training:
If you are a whole-time or pro-rata employee, who has never attended the half day practical Emergency Response Training course you must do so at least once. After attending that initial training course you must take refresher training by eLearning at least once every two years.
If you are an hourly paid part-time staff member, you may avail of the eLearning option i.e. you may take the training by eLearning
Online Manual Handling:
All staff must take Manual Handling training at least once every three years and that those with manual handling related duties must attend the half day practical training course.
It is the responsibility of management to determine what the training requirement is by reference to the duties of individual staff members.
Register for online training:
If you are eligible for the eLearning option, please consult with your line manager so that he/she may register a request for enrolment on the relevant online course with the Health and Safety Office. Information required from the Line Manager includes the name, staff ID, DIT email address, and department. The requester is also required to notify the staff members that they will be enrolled on the course and will receive an email from ‘The Health & Safety Office’ with details of same.
