I studied Natural Science in Trinity College Dublin between 1987 and 1991 and graduated with an Honours degree in Chemistry.

I also completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Third Level Education and Learning at DIT in 2014.

Professional Career

I work full-time in the Pharmaceutical Industry, and have done since leaving college.

My career has encompassed validation and scale-up of new processes, research and development, technological transfers, commissioning and start-ups.

I have worked on the manufacture of medicines, at both laboratory and industrial scale, for cancer, HIV, HCV, diabetes, leukaemia and blood pressure regulation.

My particular expertise lie in the area of In-Process Controls in API [Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient] manufacturing environments.

I also have extensive experience of Safety and Training in the live-industry environment.

Academic Career

Since 2012 I have been an Adjunct Lecturer in DIT.

My focus is on using my industry experience to make my modules relevant to and useful for the types of roles graduates will find themselves filling if they opt to work in the Pharmaceutical Industry.

I also use a wide variety of contemporary journalistic articles about the industry in my modules, mainly for students to critique as part of their coursework.

Other Information

I have an interest in journalism and am a contributing writer to a number of newspapers and publications.

I am also a published author.
