Biography

Dr. Furong Tian received a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, a master in Biochemistry, and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry from Stuttgart University and Max-Planck Institute for Metal Research in 2006. She was a visiting Research Scientist in Radiation department, in Kyoto University and National Institute for materials Science in Japan. She was a posdoc researcher in the Institute of Inhalation Biology, Helmholtz Zentrum München, supported by a Helmholtz-DAAD scholarship, ANTICARBON Seventh Framework Programme and NANOTRUCK. In 2013, she worked as Marie curie senior research fellow at Nano lab in FOCAS. In 2015, She was pointed an assistant lecturer in Environmental Health.

Research

I successfully got a diploma of teaching and learning on the third level education, at DIT.

I am actively teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in Chemistry, Pharmacology and Nanomedicine at Dublin institute of Technology.

I am currently developing nano materials for different disease treatment and diagnostic. I lead supervisor for two PhD students and co-supervisor for 1 PhD student.  I have published more than 40 peer reviewed articles in major international journal with 2000 citation (in web science excluding self citation) yielding a h index of 20 (also excluding self-citation). The publications include ACS nano, Journal of Controlled Release, Small, Biomaterials. The prioritisation of publication has been placed on higher impact journals and commercialisation of research.

My research has been funded under a Marie Curie Intra European Fellowship direct cost 224,K €. As co-PI, she received over 250K,€ in NANOTRUCK project.  NANOTRUCK project was funded in the European network programme ERANET Nanoscience with a full funding for over 1 million € through 5 nations, such as, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany. As PI, I have been successfully applied Germany academy exchange service DAAD fellowship, China Exchange Programme (CEP) and ICYS fellowship in Japan for PhD students and scientific staff.

I am a member of  EPA Online Catalogue of Expertise in Environmental Research.

I am a journal editor: On-line Journal Frontier Cancer Nanotheranostics: What have we learned so far?
