DIT Graduates interact with direct-marketing demand

19 students recently (04/04/03) graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology with Ireland's only internationally recognised qualification for direct marketing professionals.

The Diploma in Interactive and Direct Marketing has been running for over 10 years as a joint venture between Dublin Institute of Technology, the Irish Direct Marketing Association, and the UK's Institute of Direct Marketing.

Taught by top Irish marketing professionals, the aim of the Diploma is to assist the development of a new generation of technologically-literate marketers, equally at ease working with online as well as offline media. The Diploma not only reflects changes in marketing practice, but anticipates future changes as the new media map unfolds.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Kieran Killeen, Chairperson of the IDMA said: 'The IDMA attaches significant importance to the Diploma programme. It is within this realm that we have the opportunity to provide those who wish to make a career out of Direct Marketing with a solid foundation from which to grow.'

Changes in demographics, advances in technology, the popularity of the Internet, the advance of e-Commerce, and increases in bandwidth are causing businesses to re-think their marketing practices. Direct Marketing is now one of the most rapidly developing disciplines within marketing and as such there is a growing need for individuals with the knowledge, ability and expertise that such a vibrant and competitive industry demands. As Ireland's only internationally recognised qualification for Direct Marketing professionals, the IDM Diploma in Interactive and Direct Marketing has become a valuable asset in meeting the need for suitably qualified people.

In a separate presentation at the Graduation Ceremony, Deirdre Flanagan was awarded the honour of Student of the Year 2003.
