STUDENT ENTERPRISE AWARD FOR DIT MARKETING STUDENTS

A business plan prepared by two DIT Marketing students was one of five chosen from a total entry of 150 to go forward to the finals of this year's Student Enterprise Awards.

Ali Gibbons and Joanne Lalor are third year students on the Marketing Degree programme in DIT's Faculty of Business. The Business Plan they submitted for the Awards was based on work prepared for their Enterprise Development course.

Having been chosen as finalists, Ali and Joanne participated in a rigorous two-day interview process, and took second prize, with the overall Award going to Carlow Institute of Technology.

Dr. Thomas Cooney, from DIT's Faculty of Business, said he was delighted with the students' achievement. "Achieving second place in such a prestigious competition, which attracts entries from all over Ireland, is a magnificent achievement for Ali and Joanne - DIT can be very proud of their success!"

The Awards are open to undergraduate students from all universities and colleges in Ireland, north and south. This year's Awards ceremony was held in Trinity College.
