SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC DONATES €25,000 IN EQUIPMENT TO DIT

Dublin, 13th December, 2005 The world leader in Electricity and Automation Management, Schneider Electric, today donated €25,000 worth of engineering equipment to Dublin Institute of Technology.

The substantial donation was part of Schneider Electric's 200K Education Initiative, which aims to assist third level Institutes with their goal of helping to raise student interest, and the profile of engineering as an attractive career choice.

Announcement of the donation was made on Tuesday 13th December, 2005 in Dail Eireann when Mr Jim Rice, General Manager of Schneider Electric Ireland and Mr Ray Dooley, Product Manager, in the presence of Minister Mary Hannifin, made the presentation to Professor Brian Norton, DIT President and to Dr Eugene Coyle, Head of School of Control Systems and Electrical Engineering, DIT.

"This is an extremely timely and generous donation," said Dr Eugene Coyle. "It will enable us to expand our high-performance infrastructure and provide faculty, researchers, and graduate and undergraduate students with the best technological resources."
