Scéim Chónaithe Ghaeilge á eagrú don chéad uair ag Coiste na Gaeilge agus Saol an Champais, Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Bhaile Átha Cliath. Tá an scéim chónaithe a eagrú chun pobal Gaeilge na hInstitiúide a láidriú agus a chothú agus chun úsáid na Gaeilge a chur chun cinn i saol mac léinn na hInstitiúide.

Cuirfear tacaíocht ar fáil do 5 mac léinn le Gaeilge chun árasán a roinnt lena chéile i lár chathair Bhaile Átha Cliath ar Shráid Líosain. Cuirfear scoláireachtaí ar fiú 850 euro an duine iad ar fáil dóibh siúd a bhíonn rath orthu lena n-iarratais agus beidh an Ghaeilge mar theanga labhartha an tí.

Tá an t-árasán i Halla Leeson suite i gceantar áisiúil i lár na cathrach, in aice láimhe le Faiche Stiabhna agus Sráid Grafton le seirbhís bus den scoth ag freastal ar an gceantar. Níl Sráid Líosain ach 5 nóiméad siúil ó DIT Shráid Chaoimhín agus Sráid Áinséir. Tá campas Ráth Maonais taobh istigh de 15 nóiméad siúil agus tá na campais i Sráid Bolton, Sráid Chathail Brugha agus Cearnóg Mhuinseo timpeall 25 nóiméad siúil ó Shráid Líosain.

Tá an t-árasán nuachóirithe, mór, geal, compordach agus lonnaithe i dteach Victeoiriach agus tá go leor de na feistis bunaidh ann go fóill. Tá gach fearas ar fáil, ina measc, rochtain idirlín saor in aisce agus teilifís chábla agus tá costais teasa, leictreachas agus teilifís san áireamh sa chíos.

Is iontach an deis a bheireann an scéim chónaithe do mhic léinn cónaí trí mheán na Gaeilge agus beidh rannpháirtithe na scéime gníomhach i gcur chun cinn na Gaeilge in Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Bhaile Átha Cliath chomh maith. Ní mór d’iarrthóirí Gaeilge a bheith acu agus a bheith tiomanta i leith cur chun cinn na teanga. Fáilteofar roimh iarratais ó mhic léinn lánaimseartha na hInstitiúide agus ó mhic léinn a bheas ag freastal don chéad uair ar an Institiúid i Mí Mheán Fómhair 2008.

Is é 5.00 i.n. Dé hAoine 1 Lúnasa 2008 an dáta deiridh d’iarratais agus cuirfear rannpháirtithe an ghearrliosta faoi agallamh ar an Aoine, 08 Lúnasa agus ar an Luan, 11 Lúnasa 2008. Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) Irish Language Student Residency Scheme 2008

DIT is launching its first Irish Language Student Residency Scheme, a scheme whereby a number of students get the opportunity to live together through the medium of Irish as well as actively promoting the language across the Institute. The initiative is being organised by the Institute's Irish Language Committee and Campus Life to promote the use of Irish amongst students and the scheme will add greatly to the ongoing development of the Irish language in DIT.

5 students will be given the opportunity to share an apartment together on Leeson Street in Dublin's city centre and the successful candidates will receive a scholarship of €850 each. The spoken language in the residence will be Irish and the scheme will give students a unique opportunity to live together in a mini-Gaeltacht environment.

The apartment is situated in Leeson Hall and is conveniently located in Dublin city centre, adjacent to Stephen's Green and Grafton St. There is a bus service right outside the door and DIT Kevin St. and Aungier St. campuses are only 5 minutes walk from the apartment. Rathmines campus is within 15 minutes walk and Bolton St, Cathal Brugha St and Mountjoy Square campuses are just 25 minutes walk away.

The apartment is in a Victorian building, is newly renovated, spacious, bright and comfortable and retains many of the original fittings. The apartment comes with all appliances, including free internet access and cable television. Bills for the heating, electricity and television are included in the rent.

The Irish Language Student Residence Scheme will give participants a unique opportunity to live through the medium of Irish and participants in the scheme will also be active in the promotion of the language across the DIT. Applicants should speak Irish and have a keen interest in promoting the language. Applications are welcome from current full-time DIT students and from students who will be coming to DIT for the first time in September 2008.

The closing date for applications is 5.00p.m, Friday 1 August 2008 and short listed applicants will be interviewed on Friday 8th August and Monday 11th August 2008. For further information and a copy of the application form please contact Clare in Oifig na Gaeilge on 01 4027504 or gaeilge@dit.ie.
