Rachel Morgan wins Abbott Ireland Intern Bursary Award 2010

This year’s Abbott Ireland Intern Bursary has been awarded to Rachel Morgan, 4th Year BSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management.   Rachael was one of two successful candidates to be awarded the Bursary.

Congratulating Rachael on her achievement, Ms Teresa Hurley, Head of the School of Management, said “Rachael was one of only 2 candidates awarded out of 24 nominees and she successfully competed for the award against nominations from other Institutes and Universities.”

Abbott is a global, broad-based health care company devoted to discovering new medicines, new technologies and new ways to manage health and has a strong presence in Ireland since 1946. Employing almost 4,000 people, five of Abbott’s manufacturing divisions are represented across eight sites in Ireland and Abbott also has commercial operations in Dublin and shared services operations in Dublin, Sligo and Westport.  The many and varied Abbott divisions around the country develop and manufacture products that span the spectrum of the Life Sciences from medical devices, pharmaceutical therapies, nutritional products and diagnostics.   Ms Hurley thanked Abbott Ireland for its continued support.  She said “ The College of Business and the School of Management in DIT have enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Abbott Ireland over many years and are extremely grateful for its support of internships, student awards and graduate employment opportunities.”
