DIT Graduate Darragh O'Keeffe has scooped a prestigious journalism prize in Australia.  Last weekend he was announced as the winner of the Australian College of Educators NSW Journalism Award 2011.  An annual award, it acknowledges an outstanding contribution by a journalist to the field of education.

OKeeffe graduated from DIT with a journalism degree in 2004 and worked for national and regional newspapers and local radio in Ireland, prior to his move to Australia. Since 2007 O’Keefe has been editor of Education Review, the leading magazine for primary and secondary teachers and principals in Australia.

In announcing the award, the president of the New South Wales branch of the Australian College of Educators, Dr Frederick Osman, said that O'Keeffe had provided outstanding service to the education community through his work as a journalist and editor, by breaking news stories on political developments affecting schools, analysing issues on a wide range of topics and encouraging the education sector to participate in the wider debate on national issues.

The Australian College of Educators (ACE) is a national professional association which represents educators in all sectors and systems.

DIT would like to congratulate Darragh on his achievement.
