DIT Sign Society Christmas Video

Students at DIT have raised over €5000 for their chosen charities this Christmas and as a 'thank you' to all their supporters the DIT Sign Language Society has signed a medley of Christmas songs on their latest youtube video. According to Anita Conway, Societies Officer, “Students have used all kinds of society events over the last two weeks to raise funds for SVP, Wells for Zoe, Aware, World Aids Day and the Capuchin Day Centre. They managed to raise over €5000, in spite of how hard-pressed students are themselves this year. To say thank you to all their supporters, they have made a video of students signing a medley of Christmas songs. It’s designed to put a smile on your face and it works! “

Earlier this year the DIT Sign Society made their name when they recorded Snow Patrol’s “Hands Open” - the first-ever music video in Irish Sign Language. For this Christmas medley, they have coached members of other student societies who were involved in the DIT Societies Christmas Appeal. The result is probably another first for the Sign Society – the biggest number of sign language beginners singing Jingle Bells!
