The four research pillars of Environment and Health, Materials and Energy, New Information and Media Technologies and Society, and Culture and Enterprise were the themes for twenty-two oral presentations, and twenty poster exhibitions delivered by current DIT research students.  The lively audience comprising senior and younger DIT researchers w participated in the discussion throughout the day.  The inter-disciplinarity that distinguished most of the projects encouraged dialogue between researchers of different backgrounds and highlighted the cohesion emerging among the growing DIT research community.

The Best Oral Presentation Award was shared by Maria Lahiff, PhD Student, in the School of Social Sciences and Law for her presentation on “Young People and the Youth Justice System: The Roles, Expectations and Resilience of Parents” and by Sean Ruane, PhD Student, School of Hospitality Management and Tourism for his presentation on “How is Ireland imagined as a Tourism Destination in the Minds of American Tourists”. The Best Poster Award went to Hind Ali Mohmmed Ahmed, PhD student in the School of Physics.
