Team Ireland wins awards at WorldSkills Competition

15 July 2013: Team Ireland, which includes students trained at DIT, has returned from the WorldSkills Competition in Germany with a wide range of awards.

The DIT trained students taking part were Christopher Kilpatrick, Adrian O’Neill, Brian Conville and Joe Kelly.

They competed in industrial control competition, welding, bricklaying and aircraft maintenance in Leipzig.

Other categories at the event included plastering and drywall systems, restaurant services, beauty therapy and cabinet making.

The WorldSkills Competition saw more than 1,000 competitors from 55 nations competing for a range of world titles. The event was set up with the aim of challenging young skilled people to achieve world-class standards and competencies in commerce, services and industry.
