Many students are not ready for the demands of third level education and as such Higher Education Institutions must prepare first-year students better for their learning experience, so that they can engage with it more successfully.  The First Year Experience is recognised as a major component of the TU4Dublin Foundation Theme, Re-imagining our Curriculum.  As such DIT is hosting a highly participative and immersive workshop on   the theme with guest speaker Ewan McIntosh .  Ewan McIntosh works with global clients in both the worlds of Education and the Creative Industries. NoTosh is one the world's most innovative ducation companies. To find out more about Ewan and NoTosh you can visit his blog at http://edu.blogs.com/

This workshop will provide a unique opportunity for the three partner Institutes -  DIT, ITB, and ITT Dublin to design and implement a new first year experience that will characterise our Technological University learner encounter – to shape and support their transition into higher education

The one and a half day session in May will, for the first time:

  • Bring together students, educators and leadership to share, explore and build uponexisting best practice, local research and current initiatives across threeInstitutions
  • Provide a unique opportunity for us all to rethink, reflect and redesign the transition experience for our TU4Dublin first year students of the future.

We particularly welcome participation by those with direct experience of working on First Year Experience initiatives whether in an academic, management, professional service or support context.

Please note that due to the nature of the workshop and, to ensure continuity of the session activities, attendees need to commit to being there from 10am to 4.30pm on 13 May and 10am to 1pm on 14 May.

This workshop is part-funded by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.
