DIT wins prestigious All-Ireland MBA Award

DIT MBA team wins National Case Competition  

21 June, 2014:     A team of four students on the MBA programme at DIT has won the prestigious national MBA case study competition. This annual competition, hosted by the MBA Association of Ireland (MBAAI), attracts  entrants from all the universities and institutes of technology on the  island of Ireland that run MBA programmes.  This year's competition, held at UCD's Michael Smurfit Business School,  involved a case study that explored future possibilities for four  companies in the digital arena, Google, Facebook, Amazon, and Apple.  Participating teams took four hours to study the case and then made a 20  minute presentation before a distinguished panel of judges.

The DIT MBA team were, in the end, declared overall champions.  The winning  DIT team was praised for the rigour and novelty of its analysis of the  case, and the depth and clarity of its strategic recommendations.  The DIT  team members included Darragh McGonigle, Senior Bid Manager at Aramark  Ireland, Michelle Bennett Head of Investor Relations and Treasury at  Eircom, Daragh Little, Director at Alan Tierney & Partners and Diarmuid  O'Riordan, Officer Commanding - Air Traffic Control (ATC) Unit at Irish  Defence Forces.  The teams mentors  were  Professor Aidan O'Driscoll, Eoghan O'Grady and Serge Basini.

Commenting on the win, Eoghan O'Sullivan, MBA Development Manager, DIT said: " Congratulations to the DIT MBA students and staff on their achievement.  Winning the MBA Association of Ireland's MBA Case Study Challenge is testament to the excellent teaching and learning standards available to DIT MBA students.  The DIT MBA curriculum offers a comprehensive grounding in core functional areas and is designed, in particular, to encourage students to respond to the new economic realities and opportunities.
