Double award success for DIT as two structural engineering students claim award

The Institution of Structural Engineers Republic of Ireland Regional Group provide awards to acknowledge excellence in structural engineering and last week two DIT students achieved high accolades at the ceremony.

The Level 8 student prize was awarded to Paul Trofimov, who recently graduated with a first class honours degree in Structural Engineering from DIT.  Paul was commended on his thesis 'The Four Hinge Method of Analysis of Masonry Arches'.  Keith Farrell, a current Level 8 student at DIT was also a finalist in the Level 7 award category for his thesis on 'Raft Foundation Design'.

In congratulating the students on their success Una Beagon, DIT School of Civil & Structural Engineering said "Both winners began life in DIT as evening part-time students and are trailblazers on our ladder system which allows progression from Level 6 through to Level 9 and 10".
