Supervising Undergraduate Dissertations Seminar: Facilitating the Transition to the Workplace or Further Research

Aim

The aim of this seminar is to share and discuss current good practice in supervising students with new and existing undergraduate research project supervisors with an emphasis on ensuring a smooth transition to the workplace or further study.

Programme

11.00 - 13.00  The opening 2 hour workshop will be facilitated by Professor Gina Wisker. Gina is Professor of Higher Education & Contemporary Literature and Head of the Centre for Learning and Teaching at the University of Brighton. She is also the author of the book; "The Good Supervisor".

 

13.00 - 14.00 Lunch break which will include a poster session on good practice case studies in undergraduate supervision from participants who opt to provide them.

14.00 - 15.00  The  main contributor is our invited speaker, Dr John Dallat, former Head of the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, Dundalk Institute of Technology and co-editor of the book "Supervising and Writing A Good Undergraduate Dissertation". He will speak on effective and productive supervisory practice.
