DIT hosts Winter School Study group from China

Posted: 2 March, 2015

DIT held its inaugural Winter School Study Group programme this year for fifteen students from Beijing Wuzi University. The students came from a range of different disciplines including Engineering, Logistics, Business and Computing.

The three-week programme included language and cultural activities, tourism, and  classes related to their disciplines, and industry visits to Microsoft, Guinness, Amazon and SAP.   The students were also accompanied on some sight-seeing trips in Dublin and to the west of Ireland, while on their free days some of the students also took the opportunity to travel to do some sightseeing in London.

The programme was hosted by the School of Hospitality Management and Tourism.  Speaking at the closing ceremony, Head of School Dr Dominic Dillane said:

"The students from Beijing Wuzi University were welcomed to Ireland for the inaugural Winter School Study Group programme with the expectation that they would learn about Irish culture, Irish industry and studying in Ireland.  It has become clear during the three week period that as well as learning about Ireland the students joined and contributed significantly to the international community of students who are studying here in Ireland, and specifically in DIT."
