DIT Drama Fest 2015 starts Monday 09 March

The annual DIT Drama Fest takes place from 09 – 14 March in The Teachers’ Club Theatre on Parnell Square.

This year we have chosen three famous Irish plays which our members will perform across six nights in The Teachers Club Theatre on Parnell Square. 

  • 9th and 10th of March: The Lieutenant of Inishmore
  • 11th and 12th of March: The Lonesome West
  • 13th and 14th of March: The Shadow of a Gunman

The Lieutenant of Inishmore:
A play by Martin Mc Donagh, directed by two of our alumni members, Oisin McCartan and Micheal Fleming.
When Mad Padraig’s beloved cat Wee Thomas falls ill under suspicious circumstances, He abandons his torturing duties in the INLA to return home and wreak havoc on the quiet island of Inismore.

The Lonesome West
A play by Martin Mc Donagh, directed by Alex O'Byrne.
Coleman and Valene are two brothers who, in between their constant bickering and arguing, have suspicions about their fathers shot gun “accident”. Fr Walsh is on hand to help repair the relationship but proves to be about as useful as an onion in a milkshake.

The Shadow of a Gunman
A play by Sean O'Casey, directed by our beloved DIT Drama Soc Alumnus, Brian Whitney. 
In 1920’s tenement Dublin, Donal Davoren is a poet who has been mistaken for an IRA gunman and takes advantage of this to impress his sweetheart Minnie. Things soon turn sour however when the lie spins out of control and comedy turns to tragedy.
