'Leaders in Entrepreneurship' series Tuesday 10th March

At the recent 'Leaders in Entrepreneurship' series in the College of Business, Dr. John Teeling, Founder & former Chairman of Cooley Distillery spoke to a packed audience on his various business ventures.

Dr. Teeling commenced with a wide ranging exposition on the global business environment including the likely shape of the EU over the next number of years.   He pointed out the many possibilities for new venture creation that the changing landscape will provide.

In what was an inspirational presentation Dr. Teeling discussed the key elements required to succeed as a business person.  These included the necessity to be able to live with uncertainty!  John has truely mastered this particular art as evidenced by his long and successful career in Irish business. In the 70s/80s he restructured a number of failing companies. In the Natural Resources sector he founded twelve Stock Exchange listed companies. He currently chairs four, having sold three in the past two years. Teeling has diamond operations in Botswana and Cameroon (Botswana Diamonds), oil and gas in US, South America and Africa (Petrel Resources, Clontarf Energy). In Ireland his company is exploring a significant zinc discovery in Limerick (Connemara Mining). He has private interests in renewables and storage.

The 'Leaders in Entrepreneurship' series commenced in January with a fantastic presentation by Dr. Eddie O'Connor, Founder & Chief Executive Mainstream Renewable Energy.

The next event in the series is provisionally scheduled to take place on Wednesday 15th April.
