DITSOC lecturer releases new textbook on Machine Learning

Dr. John Kelleher a lecturer in the School of Computing and a founding member of DIT’s Applied Intelligence Research Center is set to release his new textbook on machine learning for Predictive Analytics this September.

The book which is being released by MIT Press is entitled Fundamentals of Machine Learning for Predictive Data Analytics: Algorithms, Worked Example, and Case Studies” and was written alongside Dr. Brian McNamee of UCD and Aoife D’Arcy of The Analytics Store.

The textbook serves as an introduction to the key machine learning methods used in predictive data analytics and is informed by John’s years of experience teaching machine learning and working on various data analytics projects. The book covers both theoretical concepts and practical applications for using machine learning for predictive data analytics and includes explanatory worked examples and case studies which aim to illustrate these examples in a broader business context.

The textbook itself is tailored for wide ranging audience that might include undergraduates in computer science, statistics, engineering, mathematics or graduate students in the field of predictive data analytics. The book has already received glowing reviews online and is set for release on the 1st September with the official launch on the 23rd September.
