DIT College of Business Research Collaboration with Pharos University in Alexandria Launched

Eng. Alaa El-Din Ragab, Vice-President of Ragab Group and Executive Director of Pharos University in Alexandria, Egypt, visited the College of Business at DIT on September 3rd to launch the Mohammed Abdel Fattah Ragab PhD Scholarship Programme.  This new initiative is designed to develop increased research collaboration between PUA and DIT, initially by supporting faculty from PUA to undertake PhDs in the College of Business at DIT.  The first scholarships will see two PUA faculty members register for PhDs in the School of Marketing and the School of Accounting and Finance.

At the launch of the programme Eng. Alaa El-Din Ragab highlighted the importance of international research collaboration for PUA and identified the initiative as a “progressive and important development in the long-running PUA partnership with DIT”.   In welcoming the scholarship programme, the College of Business Dean and Director Paul O’Sullivan said “This excellent initiative is a timely and important next stage in the relationship between PUA and DIT.  It is mutually beneficial and will produce international quality research that will create value for Ireland and Egypt”.

The programme represents an extension of what is an already successful education partnership between the Faculty of Financial and Administrative Sciences at PUA and the College of Business at DIT.  This includes the delivery of the DIT accredited B.Sc. in Business and Management at PUA, which will see its first graduation later this month.

The Ragab Group was founded in 1949 by Mohammed Abdel Fattah Ragab, and today has more than 4,000 employees working in businesses in the education, agriculture, transportation, tourism and entertainment sectors.
