Speaker profile

Jonathan Irwin, Founder & CEO, Jack & Jill Foundation

In 1997 Jonathan and his wife Senator MaryAnn O'Brien – Founder of Lily O'Brien's - set up the Jack & Jill Foundation, based on their own personal experience with their son Jack who died at home that year aged 22 months and his homecare plan became the blueprint for the Foundation set up in his name.

Since then, the Jack & Jill Foundation has supported over 1900 children since with a unique service that includes financing of practical home nursing care, home visits by one of its liaison nurses, practical advice on caring for the child, listening to the family and making representations on their behalf to the government and HSE.  Jack & Jill, spearheaded by Jonathan’s relentless fundraising ability, has raised over €60 million since 1997 while only receiving €6 million from the State.

Jonathan is globally renowned as a truly outstanding social entrepreneur.
