Calling DIT students take up the Student Cycle ChallengePosted: 6 October, 2015
DIT is one of fifteen colleges around Ireland that have signed up for the Student Cycle Challenge organised by the Smarter Travel Campus – so now you can get together with a few mates, register your team, win lots of prizes – and get DIT to the top of the leaderboard!
The Cycle Challenge is a team challenge, with teams of four competing to clock up as many trips on a bicycle as possible between Monday 12 October and Friday 23 October. Trips mean prizes! Whether you cycle for 10 minutes, 33 or 99, it counts as one trip – so you don’t need to be a ‘serious’ cyclist to take part! And any trip counts so even if you take a Dublin Bike from Smithfield to Bolton Street, that counts as a trip. The challenge is based on an honour system, so participants are expected to enter into the spirit of it by only counting genuine trips.
Existing cyclists should note that there will be bonus points given for having a ‘New Cyclist’ on the team i.e. someone who hasn’t cycled in the past six months. And those New Cyclists can win extra prizes and bonus points, so they are even more valuable!
So now we are calling on all DIT cyclists to get together in teams of four and to register online at www.cyclechallenge.ie to take on the other 14 colleges! Apart from home team pride, you can win prizes such as 3 months free gym membership; vouchers; bike lights; and lots more.
The Cycle Challenge takes place from Monday 12 October to Friday 23 October. To find out more contact Triona Keane, your DIT Student Cycle Challenge Co-Ordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org, telephone 0872907805, or go to www.cyclechallenge.ie.
