DIT To host International Workshop on Folk Music Analysis

From 15th-17th June, DIT will host the 6th International Workshop on Folk Music Analysis.

The workshop brings together the diverse worlds of computer science and folk music in the beautiful environment of St Laurence's Church, Grangegorman. The workshop aims to provide new insights into the worlds musical cultural heritage through the application of computational techniques. This year's workshop features:

- Keynote presentations from Anja Volk from Utrecht University and Peter Browne (RTE's The Rolling Wave)

- Talks from international researchers on Indian classical music, Flamenco Singing, Irish Traditional Music, Georgian Traditional Music and Dutch Folk-Songs amongst others

- Technical demonstrations and posters on the latest insights

- A concert performance from the DIT Traditional Music Ensemble

- A concert performance from a Georgian Choir

- A gala traditional session featuring local and international musicians
