DIT Rugby Stars on Ireland U-20s team as they roar into world final with four-try win

Posted: 21 June, 2016

Last night (20 June 2016) the Ireland Under-20s handed Argentina a 30-point thumping in Manchester to qualify for their first ever World Rugby Championship final at this age-grade

DIT is delighted that two of our students are members of the squad and who are currently representing their country at the World Rugby Championships in Manchester.

Matthew Byrne is a 2nd year student studying Architecture and James Bollard is a 2nd year student studying Business and Management.  Both students are participants of the DIT Athlete Support Programme and are key members of the DIT rugby team who have just been promoted to Division One of the Student Sport Ireland Irish College Rugby League.

Ireland's class of 2016 will face either tournament hosts England or South Africa in next Saturday's final at the AJ Bell Stadium in Salford (kick-off 7pm).

DIT would like to wish the U-20s team and both of our students every success as they represent Ireland on the international rugby stage!
