DIT Civil Engineering student wins UA award

Posted: 1 December, 2016

Congratulations to Mr. Sayed Ahmad Saeed who was awarded the Irish Regional Prize for the Built Environment Category of the 2016 Undergraduate Awards.

Sayed, pictured here with Dr. Martin Rogers who supervised his thesis, is a Civil Engineering student in DIT.  His award is based on the quality of his final year thesis entitled “Analysis of the existing operation of Walkinstown roundabout and traffic impact of its conversion to a signalized junction”.

The Undergraduate Awards received 5,514 papers from undergraduates in 244 institutions and 121 nationalities.

Speaking about this year’s Winners and Highly Commended Entrants, CEO of The Undergraduate Awards Louise Hodgson said “This is a huge achievement for the winners. UA received the highest number of submissions to date with only the best papers making it through the judging process - the competition was extremely tough and the Judges were astounded at the high quality of undergraduate research this year”.

Sayed has also been nominated as the UA Campus Ambassador for DIT so for any students interested in finding out more; mailto:http://www.undergraduateawards.com/ or contact sayedahmad.saeed@mydit.e
