DIT LGBT Society Rainbow Week 2017Posted: 21 March, 2017
DIT LGBT Society hosts their annual Rainbow Week, a series of events to raise awareness for LGBT issues, which is taking place from 20 – 23 March.
This year’s theme is LGBTQ+ Worldwide with the goal of raising awareness for LGBT issues in Ireland and globally. DIT LGBT Society will hold collaborative events with cultural societies at DIT such as the Africa Society, Russia Society and Islamic Society to gain an insight into the LGBT community in other countries. They will also host events with the Mental Health Society, Film Society and Art and Design Society.
“We want to encourage students to start the conversation of LGBT issues in areas where it is either frowned upon or against the law to be LGBT. We want to explore and educate students in DIT on the struggles that the LGBT community still faces every day and also raise money for our chosen charity Spunout at our inter-varsity pub quiz at the end of the week.”
Events will be held in multiple DIT campuses, including a bungee run, movie nights, bake sales, tie dye t-shirt workshops, an open transgender workshop and an intervarsity pub quiz.
