Lecture: Building Competitive Advantage with Strategic Management
John has 20+ years of experience developing PPM competency within organisations. His track record includes over 150 global companies, government agencies, state enterprises, Engineers Ireland, the United Nations, the London and Rio Paralympics and the World Bank.
Brexit and the uncertainty of US foreign direct investment have changed the global context in which we operate. Business models and project lifecycles are also getting more complex and unpredictable. There are no certainties except increased risk and the need to change. Organisations must learn to rapidly change and adapt if they are to survive and thrive in this new complex, risk-laden business environment.
Organisations with an agile mindset that understand Programme and Portfolio Management (PPM) as a strategic competency are more prepared to respond to risk and capitalise quickly on new opportunities and initiatives.
John will present how leading organisations are meeting this challenge by changing their operating strategy with a renewed focus on Programme and Portfolio Management (PPM) to develop competitive advantage and organisational agility.
New MSc Programmes:
You will also have the opportunity to hear about two new MSc Programmes that are currently being developed subject to validation for September 2017. The "MSc in Project Management and Consultancy" is a one year full-time programme for recent graduates and the "MSc in Project and Programme Management" is an 18 month part-time block release programme with lectures scheduled one Friday and Saturday per month.
Recruitment teams from leading Irish employers and Morgan McKinley will be available before and after the event to informally discuss career opportunities for junior and senior roles across all business functions. The lecture will start at 18:30 but you are welcome to join us for tea and coffee from 18:00. Finger food and refreshments will be served at 20:00 after the event.
