Women Leaders in Higher Education workshop: Developing your networkPosted: 2 June, 2017
The Women Leaders in Higher Education network invites women at DIT to a workshop on developing your Professional Supportive Network, and also features guest speakers Teresa Mannion, RTÉ and Celine Marmion, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
This is an opportunity for you to take time to reflect on developing your Professional Supportive Network – ‘who and what supports you?’
The guest speakers will share their personal and career journey – lessons learned and people that influenced their career choices.
Teresa Mannion, Senior RTÉ Journalist and Broadcaster: From a long career covering high-profile news stories to coping with cancer, achieving world-wide fame with a viral video, and latterly participating in 'Dancing with the Stars’, journalist and broadcaster Teresa Mannion has dealt with life's curve-balls with courage, professionalism and enthusiasm. Her story will both inspire and give food for thought.
Celine Marmion, Associate Professor of Bioinorganic Chemistry, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI): Professor Marmion was awarded a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Surrey in 1994. She has held lecturing positions in chemistry in both the UK and Ireland, at St Mary's University College, UK and the Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI). In 2003 she was promoted to Associate Professor where she has held the position of Vice-Dean of the RCSI Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences and Director of the RCSI School of Medicine. Her career journey in higher education will be thought provoking and inspiring.
Afterwards, you will take time to explore how you will build your network to support you and your career development and to identify ways to increase your influence. The workshop will be about networking and sharing experiences and insights with other participants.
