Over 90 delegates attend international research methodology conference hosted by DIT College of Business

The 16th European Conference on Research Methodology (ECRM) for Business and Management Studies was hosted by DIT College of Business on the 22-23 June.

Dr Anthony Paul Buckley, School of Marketing DIT, Conference Programme Chair with Professor Emma Bell, Open University who was the Keynote Speaker at ECRM 2017.

The conference attracted over 90 delegates from 25 countries worldwide, including Europe, Africa, Asia, The Americas and Australia/Oceania. Dr Katrina Lawlor, Dean & Director of DIT College of Business and Conference Chair opened the conference with a welcome address and the conference keynote was delivered by Professor Emma Bell of the Open University in the UK who spoke on the topic of Methodology – as –Technique and the Meaning of Rigour in Globalised Management Research.

In addition, DIT College of Business PhD students were well honoured at the conference with three awards presented - PhD student Kisito Futonge Nzembayie, School of Marketing won first prize in the Doctoral Colloquium for his paper 'Using Insider Action Research in the Study of Digital Entrepreneurship Processes: A Pragmatic Design Choice?' Kisito is supervised by Dr Anthony Paul Buckley and Professor Thomas Cooney.

‌Second prize went to Gavan Cleary, School of Marketing, for his paper: 'Evaluating the Impact of Effectuation on New Social Enterprise Ventures in Ireland.' Gavan is supervised by Professor Thomas Cooney. 

Finally Jamie Meehan – also School of Marketing - won first prize in the poster competition with his poster: 'Why use a Mixed-Method Research Approach in Business Clusters?' Jamie is also supervised by Professor Thomas Cooney from the School of Marketing.
