DIT Hothouse and Kerry Europe join forces to explore health issues

DIT Hothouse has signed a collaborative research agreement with Kerry Europe, establishing a strategic partnership with DIT in the area of protein research and development.

The research team at DIT, led by Dr Andrew Knox from the Sustainable Protein Innovations group based in the DIT School of Biological Sciences, will apply advanced proprietary computational methods to target health issues aligned with Kerry Europe’s research platform.

Speaking about the partnership, Associate Professor Mary Hunt, Head of the School of Biological Sciences, DIT said, “I welcome the signing of the partnership agreement with the Sustainable Protein Innovations Group and Kerry Europe as a significant step for the School in strategic engagement with key Industry partners, building sustainable collaborations to deliver on School and Institute research priorities.”

The agreement was welcomed by Dr Paul Maguire, Senior Innovation Licencing Executive, DIT Hothouse who commented, “By bringing DIT academia and industry expertise together, the creation of these research collaborations holds a transformative potential for protein research and development in Ireland and across the world.”
