Women Leaders in Higher Education - Workshop on preparing for opportunitiesPosted: 11 December, 2017
The DIT Women Leaders in Higher Education (WLHE) network will host a workshop this Wednesday 13 December on being ready to grasp opportunities, with guest speaker and global business leader, Dr Anita Sands (Sands Point Consulting).
The workshop will allow women from across DIT to reflect on how to prepare for opportunities – 'those you are working towards and those that come your way when you least expect them’. The event will include a talk from thought-provoking and inspirational guest speaker Dr Anita Sands, who will share her personal career journey - how she made herself ready to take opportunities and what influenced these choices on her impressive career journey.
Dr Sands is an advocate for the advancement of women “I would say to all women, at any age or stage, be willing to invest in yourself "(Silicon Republic interview).
Following Dr Sands presentation, participants will collaboratively explore the theme of Being Ready for Opportunities: identifying opportunities envisioned for yourself and the barriers or impediments and solutions to your fulfilment of those opportunities. In addition, the workshop will allow time to network and share experiences and insights with other participants.
The event is being organised by the Women Leaders in Higher Education (WLHE) Network who formed in DIT in 2014 to support, encourage and advocate for women in career advancement and promotion across the Institute. The WLHE aims to be inclusive of women in academic, administration, research and technical roles at all levels and stages in DIT.
The event is supported by DIT Staff Development.
