DIT Product Design Christmas Showcase - 14 December, Bolton Street

If a Mechanical Engineer is tasked with making sure an item works, a Product Designer's role is to make sure that the item works for the people it is invented to serve. On Thursday, DIT Product Design students will showcase the designs they developed which offer creative solutions to a range of complex human problems.

Among the highlights of the Christmas Showcase, is a presentation from fourth-year students who have been working in teams to design products for displaced people, particularly those that have had to leave their homes due to conflict or natural disasters. Third-year student teams entering the DIT Student Enterprise Competition will also present their product concepts and related business plans, which will demonstrate their knowledge of design as well as getting a product to market.

Finally, a prizegiving and showcase ceremony will be held in the Bolton Street Concourse where students will exhibit their work with the best designs receiving an award.
