Short Biography

Graduated with a B.Optom(Hons) from the Rand Afrikaans University (R.A.U.), now the University of Johannesburg (U.J.), South Africa in 1996 and with an M.Phil in 1998. While undertaking postgraduate research, worked as a part-time clinic supervisor/tutor in the R.A.U. Optometry clinic, as well as being a part-time optometric consultant to provincial rugby and national cricket academies. Spent 6 months during 1998 on the Phelophepa primary health care train as the senior resident optometrist/eye clinic manager. Appointed as a full-time Optometry lecturer at the D.I.T. in January 1999. Part-time research led to the award of a PhD and an MA (Higher Education) in 2008 and 2015, respectively. Research areas of interest are: Low Vision/Vision Rehabilitation and Optometric Education
