7th Annual Graduate Research Symposium

 

The Graduate Research School at DIT were delighted to host the 7th Annual Postgraduate Research Symposium in the Gleeson Hall in DIT Kevin Street on Thursday 16 February 2017.

Students and supervisors from all three partner institutions, i.e. Dublin Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology Tallaght and Institute of Technology Blanchardstown joined together in an inspiring event packed with research, innovation, intellectual exchange and so much more!  

13 students gave oral presentations about their research, while 49 other students displayed posters with the results of their research. These were assessed by a panel and the best oral presentation won a travel grant of €1,000, while the best poster won a travel grant of €750.

At the conclusion of the event, attended by close to 150 people, the President of DIT, Professor Brian Norton announced the winners of the awards as follows:

  • Jessica Kelch, PhD candidate in Institute of Technology Blanchardstown, for her oral presentation on "Development Of an Impedimetric Immunosensor for Progesterone based on Redox Active Stereoid Derivatives"
  • Camilo Mendes de Menezes, PhD candidate in Institute of Technology Tallaght, for his poster on "The Development of Early Non-Invasive and Reliable Molecular Biomarkers of Pregnancy in Diary Cattle"
