The Engineers Ireland fully accredited programme meets the academic requirements for the status Higher Certificate in Building Engineering. The programme modules are delivered with similar part-time engineering disciplines, for the quantitate modules, and with the whole time Building Engineering equivalents for the applied modules. Upon successful completion of the Higher Level Certificate students can opt to do an additional two years part-time for an Ordinary Degree in Building Engineering (Level 7) by entering the DT7013 programme.
The programme is particularly aimed for part-time students who have knowledge of the Building Engineering industry or who wish to up/re-skill in the industry. Qualifying students will be assessed, during the application process for suitability on the programme.

Leaving Certificate students: Irish Leaving Certificate or equivalent with passes in Mathematics and English or Irish and three other subjects. Students would usually be employed in the Building Engineering or related discipline before commencing the programme.
Mature students: Mature students are considered on an individual basis, subject to receipt of a CV and relevant work experience.
Modules will be examined by a terminal examination at the end of each semester (Winter & Summer) or by continuous assessment throughout the semester.
On completion of the DT6030 (Level 6) Higher Certificate programme in Building Engineering, students may progress to the DT7013 (Level 7) Degree programme which is a further two years part-time to achieve a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Level 7) in Building Engineering. The delivery of DT7013 is shared with the whole-time DT005A programme (common lectures).
The Building Engineer works closely with other engineering disciplines, architects, structural engineers and quantity surveyors on construction projects. The range of services required in buildings is continuously expanding offering graduates challenging and rewarding careers within the industry from the design, construction, manufacturing, sales, facilities and operational roles.
