Thomas Dunne (Head of School)
Is a chartered surveyor who joined the College in Bolton Street in the 1980s following ten years private practice with one of Ireland’s largest firms of property consultants. During that time he was involved the property investment market advising clients on the disposal acquisition of various types of investment property. Originally having lectured in property valuation his current research interests now include property taxation and housing. Tom is a former President of the Society of Chartered Surveyors and is currently a member of the International Governing Council of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors which is the world's leading professional body for qualifications and standards in land, property and construction. In 1999 Tom chaired the Government’s Commission on the Private Rented Residential Sector and chaired the Private Residential Tenancies Board ( the PRTB) from 2004 until 2009. In recent years he was chairman of the Irish Property and Facility Managers Association. He is currently honorary editor of the Surveyors Journal the professional publication of the Society of Chartered Surveyors in Ireland.
