Moodle is an open-source virtual learning environment, and has over 100 million registered users worldwide. It is used by many third level institutions in Ireland including IT Tallaght, IT Blanchardstown, Dublin City University and more. Internationally it is used by the Open University, London School of Ecoonomics, State University of New York and more.
Its development is guided by social constructionist pedagogy, overseen by Moodle HQ, and Moodle claims to deliver a powerful set of learner-centric tools and collaborative learning environments, featuring a simple interface, drag-and-drop features, and extensive user resources.
Although Moodle is provided freely as OpenSource software, large scale installations require infrastructure and technical support. Enovation are one of the main providers of this support in Ireland and will be coming in to talk to us about how Moodle can be used to enhance learning in DIT.
Enovation have prepared a short video specifically for DIT to introduce Moodle to us. Please note that the video below can only be accessed when you are logged in to your DIT Google account.
If you'd like to come along to see Moodle on Monday Dec 11th, 1pm-2pm in the boardroom in Cathal Brugha St., please sign up here. A light lunch will be provided.
